CMU Approved
Approved: Michelle O Faith
By Andy Malt | Published on Thursday 13 October 2016
Classically trained in voice and piano, and the holder of a degree in classical music, Michelle O Faith has done the obvious and gone into pop music. Good plan, I say. There’s all sorts of exciting stuff going on in classical at the moment, so the more we can bring all that over into other genres the better.
Anyway, you don’t want to hear me ramble on about classical music. What about all this pop? Well, last year, Michelle O Faith released her debut EP, ‘No Romance In China’, featuring tracks like the amazing ‘Sleep Through The Fire’. Then in May this year, she was one of the recipients of the PRS For Music Foundation’s Women Make Music Award, which gave her some cash to fund the release of the follow-up.
That very EP, ‘Birthday Blues’, is now imminent, and she’s trailing it with the release of its title track. The song is pop at its grandest; a bombastic lament on the passing of time.
