Wuh Oh

Peter Ferguson found early recognition as a teenage chiptune producer, which at one point led to an appearance on Annie Mac’s Radio 1 show. Since then he’s broadened his production horizons, now working under the name Wuh Oh and making mischievously off-centre dance music.

Following early singles on Ryan Hemsworth’s Secret Songs, last year he began putting out more regular releases through his own Soft Style label. The singles ‘Pretty Boy’ and ‘Ziggy’ established strong sonic and visual styles – including possibly the world’s daftest lyric video for the latter:

This month he’s back again with new single ‘How Do You Do It?’, which takes a load of 90s influences, whacks them under a magnifying glass and then positions it all in direct sunlight.

This is escalated further by the video for the track, of which Ferguson says: “The idea behind the video was to channel the style of 90s/00s fish-eye lens visuals made by the likes of Hype Williams and then crank up the ridiculousness to the max. For example, in one clip we took the futuristic metallic interiors typical of that era and made our own cheese grater version, complete with cheddar falling around me. It’s just good fun, and that’s how it should be”.

Currently touring the UK, you can catch Wuh Oh at Oporto in Leeds tonight. He’ll play a London show at Paper Dress Vintage on 2 Feb. Now, watch the video for ‘How Do You Do It?’ (cheese and all) here:
