Police appeal for witnesses after Parklife attack victim dies

Greater Manchester Police have issued a further appeal for witnesses to a “brutal assault” at the Parklife festival earlier this month, after the victim, Robert Hart, died from his injuries.

As previously reported, the incident took place in front of the main stage on the Saturday of the event, and seemingly occurred after Hart’s girlfriend was hit with an inflatable doll. The attacker is described as a muscular man in his late 20s, around six feet tall, of mixed race, with short, curly black hair. He was wearing shorts and a blue bomber jacket with a white letter A on the front.

Detective Inspector Richard Eales of GMP said in a statement: “We believe a confrontation took place following an inflatable doll hitting Robert’s girlfriend and I am specifically appealing for witnesses who recall seeing the inflatable doll and the attack on Robert immediately thereafter”.

A spokesperson for Parklife told CMU: “Our sincerest and heartfelt condolences go out to Robert’s family and friends at this difficult time. We will continue to assist Greater Manchester Police with its investigation and urge anyone that may have witnessed the incident to contact the Police through any official channel available to them”.

The attack on Hart is unconnected to a knife fight that broke out earlier at the festival, and which was also reported on at the time. Although injuries were incurred in that incident too, they were less serious and the matter was resolved on site.
