Arts Council launch electronica initiative

The Arts Council backs Logarhythm, an electronic music project launching with a tour of Warp artists Mira Calix and Chris Clark across eleven dates in May.

The Arts Council is backing a new electronic music project called Logarhythm which is described as "a co-operative network of some of the most innovative independent promoters, artists and labels which aims to readdress the balance between the UK's pool of pioneering and creative talents, and the under representation of electronic music, particularly in the live arena, with a series of events, workshops, tutorials and concerts that will serve as a focal point for the UK’s electronic music scene."

I think that's a pretentious way of saying the Arts Council are staging a number a gigs featuring Warp-esque artists as well as organizing workshops for independent electronica artists and labels to help them sell and promote their work. I mentioned Warp because the project launches with a tour involving artists from the label – principally Mira Calix and Chris Clark – on the following dates:

2 May: Glasgow, Henry Wood Hall

4 May: Cambridge, Bad Timing @ The Potland

6 May: Norwich, Slow magazine presents upstairs @ KAFE DA

7 May: London, Lumin presents @ 93 Ft East

8 May: Bristol, PAUSE_2/pedestrian presents at The Thekla

9 May: Leicester, Plankton (Deep Water) presents at

10 May: Birmingham, Capsule Custard Factory

11 May: Nottingham, Deselect Moog

Similar tours are planned working with smaller labels like Req/Kid Acne, Mego Records, Rephlex Records and Mille Plateau/Force Inc.
