Well, it's not according to Babyshambles, anyway. The band have spoken to Xfm about their debut album, which will, we're told, be out on 14 Nov, and they insist that it's going to be good, and not the substandard mess that a lot of people are probably expecting.
Guitarist Patrick Walden said: "There's lots of different musical genres on there. But the real surprise is that it's finished! Hopefully it will surprise people, it's so musical. It's not what people expect it to be - some shambolic punk mess. I'm really happy with it."
In reference to the length of time it took the band to get around to recording the album, Pete Doherty said: "It was always gonna happen. It was just getting everyone in the same room and pressing record. Well actually, pressing record was easy, it was just a bit of an obstacle course getting to the room." We had to get over mountains to Wales, through security guards, over to Henley and then Metropolis [studios]. It was like leap frog."
Elsewhere in Babyshambles news, Iceland's Airwaves Festival, which takes place from 12 - 23 Oct, has dropped the group from its line up. A news item on the event's website says: "Due to the current situation the Iceland Airwaves festival management has decided to cancel Babyshambles' scheduled performance on the festival."
I wonder what the 'situation' is? Pete Doherty being arrested? Pete Doherty having a druggie girlfriend? Pete Doherty being accused of abducting a college student? Pete Doherty vomiting on stage and throwing things at photographers? Babyshambles not being very good? Your guess is as good as mine. I'm plumping for the first option, however.
