And talking about rock stars being caught accidentally carrying around illegal knives, back to our good old friend Pete Doherty, though we're pleased to report this isn't legal news.
Doherty and his band Babyshambles will play at a special gig for the Love Music Hate Racism people later this week. The Libertines were forced to pull out of an anti-racism gig earlier this year, of course, because of the ongoing 'Doherty issues' in the band. However, fingers crossed Babyshambles will make it for what should be a storming gig at the Coronet Theatre this Friday - they will be playing alongside The Cooper Temple Clause.
The music based anti-racism group are also staging three other events this week to coincide with the European Social Forum. Also on Friday, there will be a debate around the theme of Rap, Guns, And Racism, followed by a concert featuring Skinnyman and former So Sold Crew singer Asher D, all taking place at Alexandra Palace.
On Saturday Pete Doherty, Billy Bragg, ADF's Pandit G and Martin Smith, author of the book 'John Coltrane: Jazz, Racism and Resistance', will take part in a panel debate discussing the relationship between protest movements, politics, and music at the Point 101 bar at the bottom of Centrepoint.
Then across the road at the Astoria there will be a big benefit bash featuring Billy Bragg, popular French political rockers Karma Sutra, the new band from The Clash's Mick Jones and Gen X's Tony James - Carbon/Silicon, and a showcase of UK hip hop hosted by Skitz and Rodney P.
