Babyshambles voted worst act of the summer

An NME poll of 10,000 fans named Babyshambles the most disappointing act of the festival summer, while Foo Fighters were voted the best band.

Back to Babyshambles, and Doherty et al have been voted worst act of the summer in a poll conducted by NME regarding the highlights and lowlights of this year's festival season (which isn't quite over yet, by the way, Bestival starts today!). Anyway, the 10,000 music fans polled named Babyshambles as the most disappointing act presumably because of all of their lack-lustre performances and no-shows, but possibly also because of Pete Doherty's very tedious tabloid non-music related shenanigans and that disastrous performance with Elton John at Live 8. A spokes-lady for NME said "Pete Doherty's turbulent love life has done little in the eyes of music fans."

And on the positive side, if we must look at it, Foo Fighters were considered the best band of the summer, and were followed in joint second place by Kasabian and Arcade Fire. Oasis, who were top of the 'worst list' last year, appear to have turned things around a bit and are now fourth best.
