Barack Obama set to music

Will.i.am has made a music video setting Barack Obama's 'yes we can' speech to music with Herbie Hancock, John Legend and Common, while John McCain has agreed to stop using John Mellencamp's music.

Presidential hopeful Barack Obama's now famous "yes we can" speech has been set to music by some of his musical celeb supporters. A music video has been created by Black Eyed Pea Will.i.am, and features contributions from Herbie Hancock, John Legend and rap star Common. Will.I.Am explained why he did it: "That speech affected and touched my inner core like nothing in a very long time. It was as if he was talking to and defending everything that made me who I am. I took that speech, and I wanted everyone else to be inspired by that speech as I was". Obama, it seems, is pretty chuffed about it, and has posted the video on his website.

Elsewhere in music related presidential primaries news, republican candidate John McCain has agreed to stop using John Mellencamp's music for his campaign. As previously reported, Mellencamp, being a fervent democrat, was not chuffed about the fact that his songs were sound-tracking a Republican campaign.
