Barat and Doherty appear on Strummer tribute track

Carl Barat and Pete Doherty are reportedly both featuring on a cover of The Clash's 'Janie Jones' for a forthcoming Joe Strummer tribute album, recording their parts separately.

Carl Barat and Pete Doherty are to be reunited through the medium of music - which is just lovely. Word has it they will both appear on a cover of The Clash's 'Janie Jones' which will appear on a new Joe Strummer tribute album that is in the pipeline (it's called 'Strummerville'). Needless to say, the collaboration did not involved getting Barat and Doherty into the same studio at the same time - that would just be ridiculous. Rather they each recorded their bits separately.

NME quote Barat thus: "Am I recording for Strummerville? Yeah, I've done that already. This fella just popped round with his computer and said 'Sing onto this' and then he was gone. Pete's on it, The Paddingtons are on it, loads of bands are on it."
