BBC apologises for Iggy Pop's remark on Glastonbury backstage interview

The BBC has apologised after Iggy Pop used the phrase 'paki shop' in a backstage interview with Jo Whiley and Mark Radcliffe at Glastonbury, following three complaints.

The BBC has apologised after Iggy Pop used the phrase "paki shop" during a back stage interview at Glastonbury this weekend. Iggy was talking to Jo Whiley and Mark Radcliffe after his already quite controversial Glasto set (you'll remember that he encouraged his audience to join him on stage, which they promptly did, causing quite a bit of chaos) and referred to "paki shops" during a long ramble about going to Camden. Neither Whiley nor Radcliffe seemed shocked by or apologised for the use of the phrase, leading to three viewers making a formal complaint. The Beeb said yesterday: "We would like to apologise if anyone was offended".
