BBC's Asian Network goes national on digital radio

The BBC's Asian Network has gone national on digital radio, offering a mix of speech and music, with presenters including Gagan Grewal and DJ Ritu.

The BBC's fourth digital radio station launches today. The Asian Network, which has broadcast to certain parts of the Midland and the North since the mid-nineties, went national on digital this morning. The station is available via digital radio and will feature on the new Freeview service when it launches on Wednesday. The station broadcasts a mix of speech and music and is described by its boss Vijay Sharma as "a one-stop shop for daily national news, top international stories, big consumer stories, and music ranging from the latest in British Asian sounds to old favourites".

Among the presenters on the new station are Gagan Grewal on breakfast, DJ Adil Ray late night and Bhangra star DJ Ritu at the weekends.
