The husband of Amy Winehouse is due to appear in court today to face those charges of perverting the course of justice and those original charges of causing grievous bodily harm.
As previously reported, Blake Fielder Civil is accused of assaulting a pub landlord - one James King, who runs the Macbeths pub in Hoxton - in June this year. He was then also charged with perverting the course of justice over allegations he had tried to bribe King into withdrawing the allegations he had made against him and to then leave the country.
There has been much speculation as to the state of Winehouse's health since Fielder Civil was jailed after being accused of making the bribe, though, as previously reported, the singer's mother, who blames her son in law for her daughter's heavy drug use, said his incarceration was a blessing.
As also previously reported, Pete Doherty, who says he is in daily contact with Amy, claims that both Fielder Civil and Winehouse has kicked the drugs since the former was jailed, though a photo of Amy taken this week showing a residue of white power in one of her nostrils possibly suggests otherwise, certainly the gossipers seem to think so. Then again, Doherty proclamations of being clean are normally followed by photo evidence to the contrary, so that shouldn't really be any surprise.
Fielder-Civil is expected at Snaresbrook Crown Court any time now.
