East 17's Brian Harvey has been banned from driving for a period of six months, after he was found guilty of driving at nearly double the speed limit. The singer was pulled over by police on the M4 last May, after they caught him driving at 138mph. At least, that's what the arresting officers say. Harvey represented himself and, denying the charges, claimed that the traffic cops saw another car speed past them, lost it in the chase and stopped the wrong car. And, he says, the officers' eyesight was in question. Plus, they were lying.
Well, all that could be true, I suppose, but Chippenham Magistrate Michael Sutton found him guilty anyway and handed down a 180 day ban, a £150 fine, and ordered the singer to pay court costs of £240. Speaking outside court, Harvey said: "The magistrates were very lenient and I appreciate that".
Lenient? Soft, more like. People should be shot for going at that kind of speed. Not fatally, but shot nonetheless. That'd learn em.
