Bryan McFadden signs to Richard Griffiths, not Sony

Manager Richard Griffiths confirmed Bryan McFadden has signed to his company for solo work, denying any Sony deal, while Kerry McFadden says she was heartbroken by his Westlife exit.

Music manager Richard Griffiths yesterday confirmed that former Westlife boy Bryan McFadden had signed up to his company with the intention of releasing some solo material, but denied any marketing or distribution deal had been done with Sony. He said that McFadden was working with a number of songwriters - including Paul Barry, Guy Chambers and Phil Thornalley - but that no decision had yet been made on how to distribute any releases.

Meanwhile Kerry McFadden has told reporters she didn't know her husband intended to quit Westlife until five days before his departure was officially announced. She told reporters: "I swear I didn't know he was leaving until five days before it was announced. When he told me I thought, 'Oh my God, what on earth are you doing?' but Bryan is one of these people who, once he's made up his mind up - that's it. He'd mentioned it six months before but I never really thought anything of it. When he told me for real I was heartbroken - it has been our whole life. I reckon I was more upset than Bryan was!"
