Well, the Libertines topped the charts yesterday with their eponymously titled second album - but, of course, the band's troubles continue with Libertine-in-exile Pete Doherty avoiding jail but getting a suspended sentence over knife possession charges last week.
Commenting on the continuing turmoil within the band, follow frontman Carl Barat has told Radio 1 that he hopes Pete's recent troubles won't affect the way people view the band: "I intended for the record to be seen as a record as opposed to being seen like a couple of celebrities doing celebrity stuff, it's a bit over the top being famous for the wrong things. I am certainly trying to not let that get in the way but it's pretty difficult really. I'm not at odds with him. I don't feel any animosity towards him. I'm at odds with what he hasn't come to recognise yet. Both Peter and I are fervently for not giving up. You can't get everyone's attention and say you've got something to give them and then not to. Whatever happens between the two of us I'm going to do my best to keep it together."
