Cerys to headline Anglesey's St David's Day festivities

Cerys Matthews will headline Anglesey's St David's Day Festival on 1 March, with Bryn Fon and Jeb Loy Nichols also appearing.

So, we managed to more or less completely ignore the most recent series of 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here' except to report on the initial list of c'lebs due to take part in the show, half of whom then didn't. However, I'm led to believe that while Christopher Biggins won the show, the lovely Cerys Matthews garnered most attention, thanks to her onscreen flirting with already attached Eastenders star Marc Bannerman. Promoters of this Welsh festival will presumably be hoping that all that ITV exposure will mean that their booking of Ms Matthews as their headliner will really pull in the crowds, given that those with short memories had seemingly forgotten the Catatonia star from her previous role as the queen of latter day Brit Pop.

Anyway, yes, Cerys will be headlining the St Davids Day Festival on good old Anglesey on 1 Mar (obviously). Bryn Fon and American singer-song writer Jeb Loy Nichols will also appear, and if my North Wales relations are anything to go by, a good old sing song is sure to result.

Confirming the line up, Anglesey's Principal Tourism And Marketing Development Officer, Gethin Morgan, who coordinates the festival despite his somewhat mundane job title, told reporters: "Cerys Matthews' presence is obviously a huge coup for us, especially given the increasing demands on her time since appearing on 'I'm A Celebrity'. On Anglesey, we're committed to making our St David's Day celebrations the best in Wales, and by attracting quality recording artists like Cerys Matthews to perform we're well on the way to achieving our aim".
