Channel 4 boss Mark Thompson yesterday admitted for the first time that struggling breakfast show RI:SE was a bit of a flop - in both its pre and post Christmas formats. Admitting RI:SE's ratings were disappointing (they dipped to a new low of 50,000 last week) he said: "Breakfast is one of the areas not working as well as we'd like." No word on what the channel's plans are for the former Big Breakfast slot, though some reckon RI:SE will go before the school summer holidays with kids programmes filling the gap while a new format is developed for an Autumn launch.
