Talking of T in the Park - first up The Charlatans have been added to the main stage bill. Essentially they will fill The Darkness' slot, The Darkness having moved up the bill to fill David Bowie's slot after Bowie had to cancel because of that shoulder injury. We are promised something of a greatest hits set from the Charlatan boys, which should be worth checking out.
But if you aint got a ticket we'll have none of that "well I'll just show up and try my luck" mentality. The festival's organisers have promised increased security to keep non-ticket holders away as demand for tickets to the sell out festival increases.
Festival organiser Geoff Ellis got all serious for a moment and told CMU on Friday: "The message is simple: if you don't have an official ticket, you will not get into this year's T in the Park. If you take the risk and buy from an unofficial agency or individual, there is no guarantee that you will get a valid ticket that will get you into the event. Every year we are extremely vocal in warning fans about the problems of unofficial ticket agencies, and we are hopeful that the majority of fans will have taken this advice on board to avoid huge disappointment and financial risk. This year the message is more important than ever, following the earliest sell out of the event's eleven year history. Security will also be extremely tight at the gates and throughout the event, so again we would urge anyone without a ticket not to come to Balado. The next best option is to enjoy highlights from the festival on BBC Scotland & BBC 3, and book early for next year."
So don't go saying we (and they) didn't tell you.
