Choice FM faces sexism allegations

Choice FM managers and DJs faced accusations at an employment tribunal of repeated sexual harassment against former production assistant Wendy Browne-Osibo, which the station contests.

Managers and DJs at leading black music station Choice FM were accused of repeated sexual harassment at an employment tribunal hearing yesterday. The accusations came from Wendy Browne-Osibo who claims she was forced to resign from her job as production assistant at the station after sustained sexual harassment. Allegations include that she was subjected to groping, sexual images and sexist comments while working at the station, that male colleagues refused to let her take down a picture of the rear view of a naked woman, that she had to bring a formal complaint against garage DJ CK Flash and journalist Andre Morgan for groping her bottom, and that her complaints were handled very badly.

The station is contesting all charges. Their lawyer said that pictures of naked women - such as a naked woman poster on the office wall - were a common part of the hip-hop and garage music culture. Other allegations were denied.
