Clear Channel appoint lobbyists to fight Feingold's campaign

Clear Channel has appointed two former government advisers as Washington-based Directors of Government, amid growing political pressure from Senator Russ Feingold.

As political pressure against radio and live music giant Clear Channel continues to grow in the US, led by Senator Russ Feingold’s calls for stronger regulation against major players in music radio and gig promotion, the group have confirmed they have appointed two new Washingon based 'Directors of Government'.

Both the new appointments are former US government advisors: Robert Fisher comes from the US Senate committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation where he advised Arizona Republican Chairman John McCain while Brendan Kelsay was previously on the US House Committee on Energy and Commerce, advising Michigan Democrat John Dingell.

No official link has been made between the new appointments and Feingold's campaign, but the timing suggests Clear Channel are preparing for a fight. Both Fisher and Kelsay will join the company on 1 Mar.
