CMU Selects - the last week’s standout releases

Radiohead’s second official live album ‘Hail To The Thief (Live Recordings 2003-2009)’

Captured from performances in London, Amsterdam, Buenos Aires and Dublin, the restless undercurrent of unease to ‘Hail To The Thief’ feels especially resonant today: “Yesterday’s headlines, blown by the wind”, as ‘Scatterbrain’ reminds us.

Everything Is Recorded’s new single ‘Wear & Tear’, featuring Sampha, Florence Welch, Danielle Ponder & Jah Wobble

A sprawling collaborative single from a heavyweight roster of voices and musicians. This track balances avant-garde broken-soul with experimental pop, showcasing Russell’s years-long approach of assembling musicians across genres and letting chemistry drive the process over convention. A perfect balance between the ever bizarre and touching.

Leon Vynehall’s new single ‘Scab’, featuring TYSON

Vynehall delivers another immersive gem with ‘Scab’, its subaquatic production creating a space that TYSON’s vocals can bathe in. It’s an intimate, bittersweet meditation on disappointment, self-perception and the aftertaste of fractured trust.

BXKS’ new single ‘Init Gyal’

A skippy, double-Dutch dancehall banger, hopping in just in time for Carnival this weekend. Short at just over a minute, but oh so sweet.

John Glacier’s deluxe edition of her ‘Like A Ribbon’ album

Featuring five brand new tracks with production from Skrillex, Clams Casino and Omari Lyeseight, this deluxe edition isn’t just extra tracks slapped on, it’s a carefully curated extension of Glacier’s vision. Inspired by the changing seasons and the cycles of life intertwined within them, this release serves as a final chapter in the ‘Like A Ribbon’ series. A reminder of why Glacier always moves in her own lane.
