CMU Selects - the last week’s standout releases

Logic1000’s new album ‘Confirmation!’

An ode to acceptance, its name draws on the Catholic sacrament of Confirmation as a metaphor for embracing all versions of yourself. Trip-hop, big beat, '80s synth-pop and leftfield electronica with a pop heart and dancefloor spine. Christine and the Queens, FAUZIA, Jam City, KUČKA and yunè pinku all show up. It’s lovely!

Sasha Keable’s new single ‘options’

Full-bodied South London soul about an ex, but not salty - some Colombian spice sprinkled on top. Smooth and direct as ever.

Fontaines D.C.’s new single ‘Tongue’

Almost Massive Attack-ish - bass warped like a hip-hop sample, Chatten's vocals through a sampler, guitars and strings clawing through underneath.

Strawberry Guy’s new single ‘Only Gets Better’

Lullingly hopeful and gorgeous as always. A taste of his first album in five years, out at the end of the month.

Petra’s new single ’Zeppelin’

Six minutes of avant-pop ballad that earns every one of them.
