Conrad Black jailed

Former Daily Telegraph owner Conrad Black has been sentenced to six and a half years in jail for embezzling millions from his Hollinger media firm, and fined $125,000.

Well, we've given a little coverage here in the media news bit to this story in the past, so we ought to report on its conclusion. Former Daily Telegraph owner Conrad Black is going down following his conviction earlier this year for embezzling millions of dollars from his Hollinger media firm, which owned the Telegraph newspapers, among other things. The shamed media mogul was in court this week to be sentenced. Some reckon he got off lightly - he could have been jailed for 24 years - but still, the six and half years jail time he was given will still hurt. Black will start his jail term next March. He was also fined $125,000.
