Cut short show after guitarist injured by bottle

Kasabian's Sergio Pizzorno needed six stitches after a bottle hit him on stage at Glasgow Academy, cutting the gig short, though the band returned to play Glasgow again the next night.

Kasabian's guitarist Sergio Pizzorno has been treated for a head wound after being struck by a bottle thrown on stage during a gig in Glasgow on Friday night. Pizzorno fell to the ground after the bottle, thrown by a member of the audience, hit him on the head.

The band member required six stitches for his injury, and was told by a doctor that he would be unable to continue with the gig which meant that, while frontman Tom Meighan had promised fans the band would be back on stage "in a couple of minutes"

immediately after the incident, in the end the gig was cut short.

Despite that sudden ending to the gig the band's fans proved very understanding and left the city's Academy venue in good spirits. Thanking his audience for that, Pizzorno later told reporters: "It's such a shame the actions of one person put an end to our best gig all year," adding that in the future audience members should just "throw bras and knickers from now on".

Despite the injury Pizzorno and his band were back on stage for a second

Glasgow gig on Saturday night.
