Dallas Austin pleads guilty to cocaine possession in Dubai

Producer Dallas Austin has pleaded guilty to cocaine possession in a Dubai court and says he made a mistake, with his lawyers planning to seek a pardon.

So it was true after all. Grammy-winning producer Dallas Austin has pleaded guilty to cocaine possession in a Dubai court. As previously reported, Austin was arrested at Dubai airport whilst in the country for Naomi Campbell's birthday party, an incident which, according to reports, was recently still being denied by his associates.

Appearing in court, Austin told the judge that he had made a mistake and did not mean to break the law. The producer could face up to four years in prison for the offence, but his legal team are planning to seek a pardon from the state's ruler Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, an eventuality not without precedent.
