Danger Mouse joins Gorillaz for second album

Damon Albarn is working with Danger Mouse on the second Gorillaz album, due spring 2005 with guest vocals from De La Soul, and says it is half finished.

Damon Albarn is working with DJ Danger Mouse (he of 'The Grey Album') on the second Gorillaz album. There's a certain irony to that collaboration given that the Gorillaz are signed to EMI, the label that served an injunction against Danger Mouse over his Beatles mash up.

Albarn originally collaborated with Dan 'the Automator' on the Gorillaz 2001 self-titled debut album. The follow-up is due for spring 2005 and guest vocalists will include De La Soul.

Albarn told MTV the album is half finished: "We're pretty deep into it. We're both very excited about what's happening musically and I think it'll surprise a lot of people. But I don't really want to describe a sound for people to expect."

The album will once again include a visual component, but Albarn hasn't said whether the same artist, Jamie Hewlett, would be involved.
