Dannii horrified at BNP link

Dannii Minogue says she is horrified the BNP has claimed her as a supporter after comments about Asian immigration in Queensland, and says she has been misquoted.

Dannii Minogue has told reporters she is horrified the BNP has proclaimed her as a supporter following her comments on Asian immigration in Australia. The scandal began after she talked to GQ magazine about the Asian community in Queensland, seemingly complaining that "Even some of the street signs are in Asian." This led to the BNP quoting her as a champion of the anti-immigration lobby. In turn the Anti-Nazi League damned the star, pointing out she herself is an immigrant working in the UK.

But Dannii hit back, saying she had been mis-quoted and was mortified to be associated with the right wing party. "I'm really, really upset about it. I've obviously been misquoted... This is something very serious and something that I obviously have to be speaking to my lawyers about."

But a spokesman for the BNP says the party is not concerned by the singer's threat of legal action, adding: "We only reproduced exactly what we read in GQ magazine so we have nothing to worry about."

Meanwhile rumour has it Dannii caused a strop backstage at the Top of the Pops Awards (winners below) when she realised she would have to present an award to sister Kylie. According to the Sunday Mirror she was due to present Top Tour award, but when she realised Kylie was the winner insisted she switched awards, presenting best r’n’b instead.
