Death in Vegas second favourite for Christmas number one

Bookmakers William Hill's make One True Voice near-certain Christmas number one, with Death in Vegas' 'Scorpio Rising' second favourite to be the best seller.

No surprises that the Popstars boy band One True Voice are red-hot favourites to be Christmas number one with their cover of the Bee Gee’s ‘Sacred Trust’ – latest odds are 4/6. But the good news is Death in Vegas’ ‘Scorpio Rising’, which features Liam Gallagher on vocals, is second favourite to be the best selling single in Christmas week, pushing the Popstars girl group Girls Aloud into third place.

William Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe told reporters: "The race to be Christmas Number One is usually looking wide open at the beginning of December. But this year it looks all over bar the singing, with almost every chart expert tipping One True Voice as a certainty. I cannot remember there ever being an odds-on favourite at this stage of proceedings before.''

Though a Popstars victory is almost inevitable, perhaps we should all buy copies of Death in Vegas’ excellent single in the Christmas chart return week and see if we can turn things round.
