Def Leppard surprised and irked by chart success of new album

Def Leppard's 'Songs From The Sparkle Lounge' entered the UK album chart at number 10 and the US Billboard 200 at number five, which guitarist Phil Collen finds irritating.

Def Leppard have expressed surprise at the success of their latest album 'Songs From The Sparkle Lounge', which entered the UK album charts at number 10 and the US Billboard 200 chart at number five this weekend. Guitarist Phil Collen celebrated by complaining that no one bought their last two albums, 'X', in 2002, which was their least successful to date, and covers album 'Yeah!' in 2006. He said: "I am pleased but mildly irritated by the fact that we haven't done anything different but simplified it. I am irked that people didn't pay this much attention to the other albums which I felt were just as good. This one is stripped down and people seem to be going nuts for it".
