Destiny's Child play private gig

Destiny's Child are reportedly hired to play a £4m bar mitzvah celebration thrown by Philip Green, with Andrea Bocelli also performing.

One from the file marked ëexcessive displays of wealth'. Philip Green, owner BHS and Top Shop, is reported to be throwing a £4m party for his son's bar mitzvah, and Destiny's Child have been hired to provide the entertainment. They will play on the second night of the three day celebration, whilst opera star Andrea Bocelli will appear on the first night. A synagogue has also been built especially for the occasion.

It's not the first time that Green has splashed out so extravagantly. Three years ago he spent £5m on his wife's 50th birthday party, and secured private performances from Tom Jones and Rod Stewart. Green is one of the most powerful retailers in the UK with a personal fortune estimated at £4.85 billion.
