Ah, you see, I raise the issue of how the tenth anniversary of the death of Princess Diana will be commemorated here in the CMU Daily and within days Prince William and Prince Harry, regular readers of course, start talking about staging a charity pop concert. Coincidence? Me thinks not.
According to the Sunday Mirror, the two princes are considering staging the charity pop show in their mother's memory at the Wembley Stadium next summer (it will be open by then, of course, no doubt of that). The plan, the tabloid says, is to have a massive televised event the profits from which would go to charities the late Princess Of Wales favoured.
The BBC have confirmed that the Windsor boys, as I think they should be known when they're in gig promotion mode, have said that they want to personally plan any events designed to mark the anniversary, and that their plans should be announced in the next few weeks.
Somewhat unsurprisingly, Elton John is thought to be one of the artists set to appear at the show, while Beyonce, George Michael and Kylie Minogue were all mentioned in the Sunday Times' report on the concert plans. Meanwhile Allhiphop.com report that Pharrell Williams is currently in negotiations to appear. In fact they also imply there might be some kind of collaboration between Williams and William (Prince), though they are possibly basing that on comments made by Pharrell after he met the Prince at a recent polo event, when he told reporters: "I spoke to William before he played polo. We spoke about doing something. I can't say what it is, except it's going to be big".
