Doherty and Moss tie the knot in Thailand, reports say

Reports say Pete Doherty and Kate Moss married in a Buddhist ceremony on the Thai island of Phuket on New Year's Day, though a legal ceremony in the UK may follow.

Damn, and my New Year's Resolution was to spend less time writing about the personal life of Pete Doherty, and then by lunchtime on New Years Day we start hearing reports that the Babyshambler-in-chief has finally gone and married that Kate Moss, and so here I am, back to Doherty news. According to reports the couple finally got hitched yesterday in a Buddhist ceremony on the Thai island of Phuket, at the six star Ampanpuri Hotel, at 1pm local time, to be precise. Word has it Doherty wore a black suit and "trademark pork pie hat", while Moss wore a white Galliano dress. Other words have it the couple will now honeymoon on a neighbouring Thai island.

The event has been described as "bizarre" by a couple of websites - though I don't know if that means the ceremony was bizarre by Buddhist standards, or rather it was bizarre for Doherty and Moss to choose such a ceremony in the first place. Whether or not such a wedding ceremony will be legally binding in the UK isn't clear, and some are speculating another ceremony will take place in this country later this month. But assuming all this is true and binding, can I just say congratulations to the happy couple, and shame on you who just said "I give it six months" - that's hardly the New Year spirit is it?
