Pete Doherty has called the police "a pain" after he was arrested at the weekend for possession of class A drugs. He protested his innocence and claimed that the police had mistaken those implants aimed at weaning him off drugs for illegal substances. Doherty was released from Telford police station on Sunday after being detained for more than twelve hours following a Babyshambles gig at Shrewsbury's Music Hall. Outside the station Doherty told reporters "It's just some sort of mistake, that's all," and then showed them the implants in his lower abdomen. A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "In the early hours of this morning officers stopped a mini bus in Shrewsbury town centre and detained a number of people for the purposes of a drugs search." As a result of the arrest and the delay it caused, last night's Norwich gig was cancelled.
Elsewhere in Doherty related drug news, detectives have apparently searched the recording studio where Kate Moss was photographed apparently snorting cocaine. "We can confirm that officers from the specialist crime directorate executed a section 8 search warrant on September 29 at an address in London W4 as part of an ongoing inquiry," said a police spokeswoman, though she would not reveal whether any drugs had been found. The police have also examined items supplied by the Daily Mirror, who, as you know, took the original footage of Moss cutting lines.
Moss meanwhile, is reported to have checked into The Meadows rehab clinic in Arizona. The supermodel's long term agent Sarah Doukas has told The Times that both she and Moss's mother Linda are worried about her relationship with Doherty, saying: "When somebody's in love with someone like that, they're not going to listen to anything anybody else says. Things did accelerate with Pete, but in terms of their relationship, it was still early days." She continued: "He's here and Kate's not in the country. But for the future - I can't say."
And finally in Doherty news, the Babyshambles singer has topped a recent poll by cufflink manufacturer Square Mile as 'man most in need of a fashion makeover'. And if that's not a reason for an internationally famous fashion model to dump her boyfriend, I don't know what is.
