Durst: new guitarist and new name (sort of)

Limp Bizkit have recruited former Snot guitarist Mike Smith to replace Wes Borland, and Durst confirmed a guerilla tour to promote the new album due in June.

After a much hyped yet unsuccessful national search to find a replacement for guitarist Wes Borland, Fred Durst has announced that former Snot axeman Mike Smith will take over guitar duties with Limp Bizkit. Durst explained: "We really like jamming with Mike. He's dope. This you will find out soon enough." Smith will help put the final touches to the new Limp Bizkit album, which is due out in June. That album has had a number of different working titles – including 'Bipolar', 'Less Is More' and 'The Search for Teddy Swoes'. Still not completely sure what the album will actually be called – though Durst has said whatever it is called it will be credited to limpbizkit, all one word, all lower case.

In his regular online ramblings Durst also confirmed the band was planning another "guerilla tour" to promote the album - "You know, one were we just show up and play free concerts for you" – this is a repeat of the band's marketing approach in 2000, though presumably without the sponsor who supported that tour - Napster. Meanwhile Wes Borland, who famously fell out with Durst, is struggling to find a lead vocalist for his new band, Eat The Day. Word is the band have sifted through hundreds of demo submissions and auditioned several candidates, but "the search for a singer is still on."
