Edinburgh Festival music seasons get underway tonight

The Prodigy open the T on the Fringe music strand at Edinburgh's Corn Exchange, while Tigerfest opens its alternative month-long season at Backpackers.

Now, if you're wondering why your lovely wholesome CMU Daily sometimes comes out slightly later than normal in August, then wonder no more. We here at UnLimited also publish and produce ThreeWeeks, which only provides the most damn comprehensive coverage of the Edinburgh Festival, which means we are rather busy reviewing 1400 odd shows during August.

Anyway, more of that in Monday's Daily, though I mention it now because the two main music strands of the Edinburgh Festival kick off tonight. The previously reported T on the Fringe kicks off with The Prodigy at the city's Corn Exchange, while over the Swamp Live Music Bar at Backpackers on Queensferry the more alternative Tigerfest kicks off with Macrocosmica, Toro and G-Plan. It should be a good night to launch a storming month long season of gigs, which will include the likes of James Yorkston, Malcolm Middleton, My Latest Novel, Tramp Attack and those and Japanese free-jazz 'intuitionalists' Fukyo Chiin.
