Fame Academy winner David Sneddon, whose debut single went into the shops this week and is tipped for number one on Sunday, has told the Sun he's worried the nation hates him, that they think he’s just another reality TV pop star and that they don’t realise he writes his own songs.
He told the paper: “A lot of people hate me because they think I'm just another Gareth Gates, but I'm a different breed. I've written an album and I know it's good. I can't wait to ram it down people's throats."
But he seemed to be taking heart that Elton John is a fan: "I found out Elton John is quite a fan. He knows it's rare to be a piano-playing songwriter. I don't care if everyone hates me - so long as Elton likes me."
