Fats Domino piano fails to sell at online charity auction

An online charity auction for a piano played and signed by Fats Domino closed with no bids at its $100,000 opening price, and may be relaunched around the Katrina anniversary.

Talking of rock n roll auctions, an online charity auction selling a piano played and signed by Fats Domino closed yesterday with no takers. The opening bid price for the piano, being sold in aid of an organisation helping with the rebuild of New Orleans, was $100,000, but nobody put in a bid at that price. The $100,000 price was picked because the piano itself is said to be worth $60,000 before being signed. A second auction may now be held around the second anniversary of the hurricane that devastated New Orleans, which is at the end of August.
