If ever there was a reason to stay in bed on a Friday morning this is it. Dreadful TOTP presenter Fearne Cotton is taking over the early morning breakfast show on Friday mornings on Radio 1, because doing it five times a week would be far too much to ask of JK & Joel, who will host the slot from Monday to Thursday once the lovely Nemone steps down. She will co-present the show with her former TOTP co-host Reggie What's-his-name.
Needless to say, the always excitable Cotton was very, erm, excited about her new appointment. "I'm so excited about joining Radio 1," she said excitably, "When I was a kid I did the classic thing of taping shows off the radio and dropping my own voice in - hopefully this show will be better than that! Most of all, I'm looking forward to talking about music, obsessing about music and playing loads of music."
Radio 1's Head Of Overly Excitable And Rather Irritating Presenter Appointments, Ben Cooper, told reporters: "Reggie and Fearne are really hot at the moment and I'm chuffed that they are ready to get up early to do this show. It'll be an ultimate guide to what to do at the weekend, and as they are passionate about different types of new music, love going to different gigs and generally having a good time it should make for some great radio."
