Feeder: good news and bad news

Feeder's new single was recalled after 25,000 faulty copies were found, but the band will play a free HMV Oxford Street in-store on the new release date.

Bad news first. Their new single - 'Just the Way I'm Feeling' – should have been in the shops last Monday, but they’ve had to recall 25,000 copies of the CD because they were found to be faulty. The fault, made at the pressing stage, was discovered late last week but bosses at label Echo couldn’t get new copies made in time for Monday – pushing the release date back to next week. Frontman Grant told Radio 1: "We had all the singles all made before Christmas so we could put them in the shops. 25,000 copies of it are knackered. There are glitches all the way through it. So we've had to pull them all back in. It's been a nightmare. It's a shame because the timing was perfect for us, with TV appearances and everything, but it's happened and we can't do much about it." The delay was particularly upsetting because the release was timed to coincide with the first anniversary of ex-drummer Jon Lee's tragic death.

The good news is the band have managed to arrange a live in store performance at the Oxford Street branch of HMV on the new release date. The free 30 minute acoustic show will give fans a sample of the set for the band’s almost sell out UK tour, which begins in Dublin on 7 Feb. The HMV performance is at 6pm on 13 Jan.
