Former Warner man joins Edge

Former Warner UK chairman Nick Phillips has joined the board of investment firm The Edge Group, where he will focus on corporate finance.

Entertainment investment types The Edge Group have announced that former Warner UK chairman Nick Phillips has joined its board and that he will be especially involved in developing the company's corporate finance operations.

Edge Group founder David Glick confirmed the appointment on Friday, telling reporters: "I am delighted that Nick Phillips has agreed to mark his return to the music industry by joining the board of Edge Group. Nick's skill, experience and contacts make him a huge asset. Nick's input will be particularly important in helping grow the group's corporate finance activities. Despite much negative coverage of the recorded music industry in particular there is a growing appetite in the investment community for publishing and recorded music catalogues, areas in which Nick's experience will prove invaluable".

Phillips added: "This is a time of great opportunity in the entertainment industry. Technology is providing more and more outlets for recorded music and audio-visual content and yet in many cases negative market sentiment means the price of catalogues has been depressed. Meanwhile the live music and events business is being driven by a new generation of entrepreneurs. I believe the Edge Group is uniquely placed to prosper in this new marketplace and I look forward to being part of the Edge story".
