Franz Ferdinand busted in New Zealand

Franz Ferdinand were stopped by New Zealand airport security for trying to bring an orange into the country en route to Splendour In The Grass.

Franz Ferdinand have been busted for smuggling - but not for what you'd expect; the Scots rockers were rapped by security for trying to take an orange across the border when they entered New Zealand. The band were on their way to play Auckland's Splendour In The Grass Festival when airport security found the fruit in their luggage.

Singer Alex Kapranos told the NME: "They're very particular about taking any kind of foodstuffs across the borders and things, they were going crazy and the X Ray machines were flashing and going nuts, and we thought (jokes): "Oh my God, they've found the stash of cocaine! "But it wasn't, it was the orange. They didn't give a damn about the hard drugs, it was the fact that we were smuggling an orange into the country. No citrus fruits!"
