Talking of last year's big newcomers and their second albums, Franz Ferdinand have confirmed that 'Do You Want To' will be the first single off their much anticipated new long player.
Frontman Alex Kapranos has explained the story behind the song to the NME: "We all went to this party in Glasgow one night. The way people have conversations with each other at parties such as that, because the music's so loud, they don't talk to each other, they just yell things in each others ears. When I came back later that night I was a wee bit steaming still and scribbled down on a bit of paper some of the things people had been yelling in my ear. Some of them were really funny. I had nothing to do [the next day], so I picked up the guitar and had this little riff that I quite liked and I started singing some of these things that people had been yelling into my ear the night before. Suddenly, it turned into this song."
So there you go. The band have also revealed the cover artwork for the new album. Despite previously saying that the artwork would be same as that used on their first long player, but with a different colour scheme, actually the second album's cover, while of a similar design, is quite different than the first, mainly because it has a picture of a girl seemingly shouting out the band and album's name. Lovely.
