Former Capital Radio boss David Mansfield is stepping down as Chief Executive of the recently created radio conglom GCap. The former boss of GWR, the company who merged with Capital to create GCap, will take on the top job, as well as his current role of Executive Chairman, which sounds very ambitious (unless, of course, these grand sounding jobs don't actually involve very much at all). The move was perhaps inevitable given that many in the investment community raised doubts as to the viability of having both the Capital and GWR bosses in such senior positions in the merged venture, so to many this is just the end of a merger process. Whether it means GWR types will now start to take the upper hand as the consolidation of the two groups continues remains to be seen.
