George Michael session among BBC Radio Christmas line-up

BBC Radio 2's Christmas schedule includes a George Michael live session at Abbey Road, while 6Music will be guest-programmed by the Manic Street Preachers.

George Michael will perform a live set at the Abbey Road studios as part of a Radio 2 programme which will see the singer discuss the inspiration behind his songs as part of the radio station's Sold on Song initiative, which explores the art of songwriting.

The programme is part of a number of Christmas specials being planned by Radio 2, which include a Christmas Day concert from the London Community Gospel Choir hosted by Jamelia, a spoof nostalgia show on Christmas Day hosted by Harry Hill, a live concert from Jamie Cullum and a series of Fireside Tales in which Christopher Lee will read from the likes of Edgar Allan Poe, E Nesbit and Ambrose Bierce.

Oh yes, and Chris Tarrant will return to radio, this time to the BBC station, to host a one off New Years programme.

Talking of up coming programmes on BBC Radio,6Music have announced that the Manics will be taking over the digital music station from 6 to 12 Dec. In a similar vein to when Radiohead took over the station last year, they will pick shows from the BBC archives to be aired. They will also perform a live session and appear on various 6Music shows during the weeks.
