Gorillaz will play their rather excellent 'Demon Days' album live for the first time in its entirety at a five night stint at the Manchester Opera House from 1 to 5 Nov. Last time Gorillaz played live Damon et al performed behind a screen on which images of their cartoon alter-egos appeared. This time the event is expected to be more of a conventional performance, though with some of the guests who appear on the album (including Roots Manuva) likely to appear, it is sure to be one hell of a night.
The event is part of something called the Manchester International Festival - the world's first international festival of original, new work - whatever that means. Explaining why he decided to stage his five night run in the North West, Albarn told reporters: "London gets all the gigs. It's time to do something a bit different to redress the balance. We're very excited to be getting all the guests artists together in one place for these shows."
