Green Day join anti-war protest

Green Day have joined the anti-war campaign by launching an online petition against military action in Iraq, which is being managed by fan website www.greenday.net. Speaking on the band’s official site the band say: "For those of you who are opposed to the war on Iraq, we want to start a petition on Greenday.net to send to George W Bush strongly urging him to re-think his plans for military invasion. This petition isn’t only for people who live in America, but people all over the world." They are the first major US band to speak out against going to war with Iraq. Although Moby has written about caution in dealing with the Middle East situation on his website, artists in the US have not organised anything to match the anti-war activities of Massive Attack's 3-D and Damon Albarn in this country.
