Harvey on the mend

Brian Harvey tells GMTV he was run over by his own car after eating jacket potatoes, and hopes to be walking again by Christmas.

Former East 17 boy Brian Harvey has been explaining how it was that he ended up getting run over by his own car. Now recovering at home, Harvey told GMTV: "I had just been stuffing my face with a load of jacket potatoes and I felt sick, so I opened my car door to be sick. Instead of putting my foot on the brake, I put it on the accelerator and it flew back. I must have hit four or five parked cars." So that's that completely cleared up then.

The good news is that Harvey says doctors have told him he should make a full recovery, which is good news given his description of the injuries he suffered after the bizarre incident: "My stomach was pushed into my lungs, which collapsed, and I was told the heel of one of my feet was found up round the back of my head." He still has someway to go in his recovery, but he told the TV station that he hopes to be walking again by Christmas.

The singer again denied those allegations that the accident was some kind of suicide attempt. While admitting he has tried to commit suicide on two occasions, he pointed out: "If you were going to commit suicide you wouldn't do it like this," he said. Which is probably a fair point.
