Hip hop court round up

Several hip hop artists appeared in court this week, mostly to fix future dates, including Ja Rule, Lil Wayne, Remy Ma and Busta Rhymes.

It's been busy in the hip hop courts this week - though there was little actual judging going on, in the main it was about fixing future dates.

First Ja Rule was in court to face weapons charges that stemmed from an incident last July when police stopped his car and found a loaded hand gun in the vehicle. He was told to come back to court on 5 Dec for a full hearing of the charges against him.

Next Lil Wayne was in court, also for gun possession, a charge made after police approached the rapper's tour bus after smelling marijuana, only to allegedly witness a slightly jumpy looking Wayne disposing of a bag in which was another illegal hand gun. He was told to report back to court next February.

Grammy nominated rapper Remy Ma was in court to face charges she shot an acquaintance in a dispute over money and that she then intimidated the victim in a bid to stop her giving evidence against her. She was told to come back to court on 5 Dec.

Finally, and putting the others to shame, Busta Rhymes was in court to face a number of charges, including allegations he kicked a fan, that he punched a former employee, and that he drove drunk with a suspended licence. Good going Trevor. He is due back in court on 23 Jan for jury selection for his case.
