More from the Shambles. Now, when organisers of the Iceland Airwaves festival announced they were canning the band from their line up, they said they had made that decision "due to the current situation". But which current situation? There's so many to choose from. Well, festival organiser Thornsteinn Stephensen has told our good friends at Virtual Festival exactly why they dropped Doherty et al from their event.
He told the website: "Our reason is that we had not been receiving any response from Babyshambles regarding their flights and accommodation. They are just impossible to reach. Also, the fact that they keep getting arrested and failing to turn up to half their gigs has put us in a very difficult situation. We are quite a small festival and could not afford to have an empty main stage at midnight. We just couldn't take the risk. But it's not a problem now. We have rescheduled the bands and the lineup is now complete. We're looking forward to another great Iceland Airwaves."
So are we. By the way - if you'd like to go to that very festival yourself, we can get you flights, hotels and VIP tickets to it for free. Well, not all of you, obviously. But there is a free trip to the festival to be won on the London Now website, an exciting new music site from Virgin Digital and our friends at BigTime.tv. To be with a chance of winning those tickets go to http://www.virgindigital.com, click the London Now button, and then select the Iceland Airwaves page. Easy.
