Imprisoned Shyne loses phone privileges

Imprisoned rapper Shyne has had his prison phone privileges suspended after allegedly using the phone to record raps and give interviews.

Imprisoned rapper Shyne ain't impressed that prison authorities have stopped him from running an international music career from his prison cell - that is to say, they've cut his phone privileges. As previously reported, Shyne, who is in jail for his alleged role in a shooting in a New York club, has signed up to Island Def Jam and will release a new album very soon. He got into trouble after allegedly using the prison phone to record new raps and to give media interviews - prison phone privileges are meant for personal calls only.

In a letter faxed to MTV (presumably fax privileges remain) Shyne said last week: "The Shyne movement will not be censored. I categorically deny any intentional wrongdoing. The extreme measures taken by the department of incorrection to suspend my phone privileges and deny the media access are draconian at best. Such extreme steps are taken only with the most dangerous or disruptive inmates; I qualify as neither. This is about me inadvertently failing to comply with [their] Taliban phone rules, which amount to blackmail and extortion."
